We are NOT currently assisting applicants with dog aquisition. For the time being, we are only servicing applicants who already own their own dog.
• You must live in the greater Houston metropolitan area less than 1 hour from 77043.
• You must have a dog between 5 months – 3 years old that you would think would make a good candidate for service dog training.
• You must have a biography ready to upload. Your biography is one of the most important ways our Board of Directors determines potential candidates for training. Summarize your military history and experience, how your disability occurred, how it presently affects you, and how a Service Dog might help you. Formats accepted: Word, PDF, TXT
• You will need to upload 1-3 photos of yourself and also of your dog. Files accepted: JPG, GIF, PNG, PDF, BMP
For Veterans seeking funding, a copy of your DD-214 and your letter of disability rating from the VA will be required.

The cost of our Service Dog training program is usually between $3,500.00-$5,500.00, paid in increments of $500.00 every 5 weeks, and lasting 8-12 months depending on complexity of disability-specific task-training.
The first classes in our service dog program, Puppy Start Right Preschool and Basic Foundation Skills 1, are open enrollment for civilians.
Veterans seeking funding must go through our interview and application process and receive board approval. However, disabled veterans seeking to start training immediately do have the option of enrolling in the Basic Foundation Skills courses at a discounted rate.
Clearance to progress through to each course in the program is contingent on successful completion of earlier courses and will be given by trainers. This clearance is dependent on your dog’s behavior and progress through training, as well as your participation and practice.
